Subha Perumal
Principal Occupational Therapist

Subha Perumal, widely recognized as “Sue,” is an experienced Occupational Therapist with an extensive background spanning over 20 years in the field. Subha has been a vital contributor to the Australian Health system. Her experience and commitment to her profession have made her an invaluable asset to the healthcare community. 

Sue’s remarkable journey includes serving as an Occupational Therapist within Tasmanian Health Services.

In this capacity, she has worked closely with clients facing the complex challenges associated with Mental Health an Huntington’s disease. Her compassionate and client-centered approach has enabled her to provide valuable support and care to individuals and their families during their healthcare journey. Furthermore, Sue has excelled in her role as a facilitator, bridging the gap between clients and the Department of Emergency Medicine, Community Service organizations, and other vital
mental health services.

As the founder and principal Occupational Therapist at In Goodhands Occupational Therapy, known as “IGH,” Sue has realized her vision of creating a healthcare environment that places participants at the forefront. Under her leadership, IGH has become a beacon of excellence in the field, providing a wide range of services aimed at enhancing the lives of those in need.

Subha’s areas of expertise are diverse, encompassing Functional Capacity assessments, Sensory Assessments, Home Modifications, and Mental Health support for individuals of all age groups.

Renata Buckova
Occupational Therapist

Renata has been working as an Occupational Therapist for over 12 years. In 2011, she completed her BSc degree in Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom, and in 2018 she graduated with an MSc degree in Occupational Therapy at Brunel University, London.

Prior to coming to Tasmania in 2021, Renata practiced as an OT in the United Kingdom, primarily in acute hospital settings, specifically in Oxford, Cambridge, and London. 

She is an efficient, hard-working occupational therapist with a strong work ethic and with good organisational skills. She can meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work. Her special interest area is working with adults diagnosed with long-term conditions to promote their independence and autonomy and to help them increase their functional capacity. Renata is also a certified Home Modifications assessor, and she is keen to further expand her knowledge and skills in this area of clinical practice. She considers herself very privileged to be working as part of the In Good Hands OT team, as she considers helping the Tasmanian community as an IGH OT to be the highlight of her career.

Belinda Priest
Therapy Assistant

Belinda is a Therapy Assistant at IGH. In her role as a Therapy Assistant, Belinda actively engages with children and adults in IGH’s sensory gym facilitating sensory activities and exercises under the guidance of our Registered Occupational Therapist.

Belinda’s work in the sensory gym is geared towards promoting self-regulation in clients, which is a key aspect of sensory therapy.
She helps children and adults, with developmental delays, sensory challenges, or motor skill difficulties. Her role involves offering a variety of sensory activities and equipment used to support their sensory development.

Joey Lui
Occupational Therapist

Joey is a dedicated and caring Occupational Therapist graduated from University of Newcastle, with 1+ years of combined experience working in workers’ compensation and NDIS scheme. She has the most experience providing functional capacity assessments and reports for participants with motor function disabilities, and psycho-social disabilities under the NDIA scheme.

Her main strength is communication, developing rapport with clients, assess equipment needs, select and adapt the appropriate per case occupational therapy treatment model. She is able to assess client’s home and other environments, advice on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities, recommend adaptive equipment and identify the needs of support for clients.

Praveen Jayachandren
Occupational Therapist

Praveen Jayachandren is a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist with 8 years of practical expertise. He has hands-on experience in planning, coordinating, and implementing evidence-based therapy programs. This expertise ensures that patients receive high-quality and effective interventions. Praveen specializes in screening and evaluating patients’ functional abilities, particularly after neurological and orthopaedic injuries.
He has expertise in various specialized areas, such as adaptive skills, hand splinting, hand therapy, activities of daily living (ADL) skills, cognitive abilities, sensory motor skills training, visual motor and perceptual skills. These skills are vital for improving patients’ functional abilities and independence. Praveen Jayachandran’s expertise in adaptive skills, hand splinting, and hand therapy highlights his ability to address specific challenges related to hand and upper limb function. His specialized knowledge and skills in these areas contribute to his effectiveness in improving the overall quality of life and functional abilities of individuals who require rehabilitation and support for hand-related issues.
